A survey of parents and carers of children aged 5-16 attending maintained schools sought to establish levels of involvement in the education of their children. The majority said they felt very (38 per cent) or fairly (51 per cent) involved.

A new book collected together significant research on the involvement of parents and carers in the education of their children. The findings stressed the importance of dialogue and action between teachers and parents, so that parents could actively share in decisions.
